Kuelap Fortress and the Condores
**Duration: 06 Days / 05 Nights

 

Day 1: Lima / Trujillo / Chachapoyas / Chillo.- Reception in Trujillo.  Flight connection with small aircrafts to Chachapoyas city (45Žapprox.).

WeŽll visit the most important attractions of the city. In the afternoon, weŽll be transported to Utcubamba valley, where our lodge is located.

Visit to the archeological Sanctuary of Macro, located on the right side of Utcubamba River and the archeological site of Olan.

Day 2: Chillo / Kuelap Fortress / Chillo .- In the morning weŽll be transported to the incredible Kuelap Fortress. Fabulous archeological complex of América and one of the most important of the peruvian north-east where can be appreciated gigantic stone walls to go around the part of the  Fortress, still covered for the exuberant vegetation of the area. On the way we have the  opportunity to appreciate the typical villages of Lamaría and Choctamal.

Day 3: Chillo / Leymebamba/La Laguna De Los Condores.- Transfer to Leymebamba, capital of the province of Leymebamba province. Visit the local Museum where 200 funeral bundles (Malkis) are showed to the visitors. 

On the way, we can appreciated the diversity of surfaces and the great variety of weathers from the jungle to the high lands or Punas.  WeŽll start our trek during 9 hours approx.  to the Condores Lake (2,750 m.a.s.l.),  guided by the natives of the area. Campsite in the area.

Day 4: Condores Lake / Funeral site.- Trek to the archeological  Funeral site  where the sarcophagus are located. This area is cornice of stone of 35 mts. high. The funeral bundles are 500 years old approx.

In the afternoon, weŽll Return to our campsite.

Day 5: Condores Lake / Leymebamba / Chachapoyas.- At appointed time, weŽll Return to Leymebamba village (8 hours approx. Riding bus).

Arrival and Reception in the city. Afterwards, weŽll continue our trip to Chachapoyas city. Transfer to our lodging.

Day 6: Chachapoyas / Lima.- Very Early in the morning transfer to the airport to board the flight  to Trujillo city where weŽll catch the flight connection to Lima city.
