Treasures of The Collao Plateau III

Day
1 : Juliaca / Puno City.- Airport or
train station
pick up by our tour guide. Transfer to the hotel. Rest to acclimate to
the altitude. At the proper time we will visit the Chullpas of Sillustani,
a 3.5 hour tour that will take you thru the city of Puno,
give you
beautiful views
of Lake
Titikaka and
a visit to
a native
home of
the alpaca
herdsmen. This all on the way to the ceremonial lake of Umayo.
Return to hotel, rest.
Day
2: Puno City / Uros Islands / Taquile Island / Puno City.-
By the morning we
will be
transported to
the port,
where our boat weŽll be
waiting to take us to Taquile Island. This island
is located 35 kilometers from the port of Puno City and offers tourists
great beauty and ancient cultural activities. Within this community these people
live within their own laws. Most of the inhabitants are dedicated to their
ancient tribal ways of agriculture and weaving.
Afterwards,
weŽll continue t to UROS ISLANDS.
These ancient inhabitants of
the area come from the oldest civilizations of the Americas. These tribal people
still live upon a group of 40 small man made islands. The islands are
constructed from the Totora reed, these islands are called KOT-SUNS
(translated as " Lake
Town" in the Aymara language).
These
floating islands are within the boundaries of the Lake Titikaka Reserve and are
considered as one of the most ancient communities in the Americas.
